Some stupid thoughts pop into my head while I'm driving to and from work.

Like, how would I be able to remake track 7 of the new Metallica album with animal sound. I was thinking meow's could be the lead guitar, moo's could be the baseline, and I could use ambient monkey noises in the background. I couldn't think of anything for the drums or vocals, I suppose they would still have to be human.

I also wonder how many of those little stickers on apples to we eat throughout our life time. I figure it could be tested by watching individual people eat apples, all with little stickers on them, and calculating the average amount of time they take the sticker off. This number could be used as a base for the amount of times everyone takes the sticker off an apple. The rest is just math and not worth explaining (as if this was worth explaining in the first place).

Mix CDs

My friend burnt me a bunch of hiphop cds the other day (without me asking). In total, I got about 5 audio discs. It sounded promising... but this is where the good part ended.

It turns out he didn't hand pick each song, find out if they were good, and put them in some sort of sequence that "worked" -- as anyone would do when burning CDs. Nope, they were in alphabetical order! Spread over 5 disks! (Imagine a cd labeled: "E to L")

Combine this with the fact that every song started and ended with "this is HOT 108FM! H-H-H-HOT 108FM! The hottest station blahblahblah..." Yes, these songs were recorded off of a streaming radio station! Nothing spells cool like having all the windows down in your car and blaring the name of a non-existent radio station's name after a mediocre late 90's rap song.

That leads me to the last note. These song weren't even all new (a trait i'd let slide if they were good -- not the case). Do you know how bad it is having old Beyonce, Bow-Wow, and Busta Rhymes all on the same cd?

I may not know a lot about hip hop, but I do know the moral obligations associated with making mix cds. Old, mixed up, internet-radio-streamed songs are a last resort for tracks on mix cds! Especially when said cd is for someone else!

Spread the word my fellow interwebians. No more mix cd receivers need suffer.

The Kooks in Vancouver

The Kooks were in town this past Saturday. The group is quickly rising in popularity in North America, all the while selling around 2 million albums elsewhere in the world.

Their show at the Commodore quickly sold out (well before I learned of it), so they made a quick visit to HMV on Robson to play a couple songs only hours before their full-on show down the street.

I work in IT. My pay is decent, my job is easy, my spirit is being kicked in the ball-sack.

I want to ride a bike down a mountain for a living, take pictures on nature walks, stand around and joke with my friends in a trendy open-concept office and tell people what I think about their stupid ideas.

Its tough out there for people who don't like real work. Real tough. All we do all day is sit at our desk and think about our boring life, and how we can form it into a semi-entertaining blog post (now that our facebook and msn are cut off). We're all exactly like that.

I'm hoping my viral marketing idea becomes reality soon ish. Its my ticket out of this beige cubicle hell. I just need to put the pen to the paper, then crumple up the paper, realize that typing this all out would be better suited for this task, then do it properly... like in notepad or something.

Hopefully my willingness to change doesn't fade after 5pm as it usually does. I also have a bbq tonight... damnit, ok, i'll start tomorrow...

Have you heard about these UFC brand of shirts they don't let in Vancouver clubs anymore? I was going clubbing with a buddy once and the bouncer said we couldn't get in cause of what my friend was wearing. I think its sad that a guy with a $300 hoodie is getting the same treatment that a white guy with a clock around his neck. Its almost as bad as that time I couldn't get in cause I was wearing white shoes after labor day.

I got these new jeans with the button fly and the one thing I hate about them is that I get sort of self conscious at urinals now ... I can't figure out the buttons and I end up just standing the after my piss fumbling with my crotch for an unusually extended amount of time.

I'm actually thinking of just like standing at home and practicing my button fly. I mean, I know I'll never beat my zipper fly time, but once I get buttoning under 45 second, I'll be good. On a related note, once I get my intended crotch fumbling time above 45 seconds... double score.
